Canadian Rapper Tory Lanez’s Mug Shot As He Has Taken To California Prison
Tory Lanez, the 31-year-old Canadian rapper known for hits like “Say It,” has found himself in the spotlight once again, but not for his music. Lanez recently posed for a new mugshot as he was transferred to North Kern State Prison in Delano, California. This move comes after he was convicted of shooting fellow artist Megan Thee Stallion.
Lanez Denied Bail
In a surprising turn of events, Lanez had requested bail to spend time with his son and wife while his legal team worked on his appeal. However, Judge David Herriford denied his request on September 14th. The judge cited Lanez’s violent felony conviction, history of violating court orders, and foreign citizenship as factors in his decision. Lanez’s conviction stems from a 2020 incident in which he shot Megan Thee Stallion in the feet following a party at Kylie Jenner’s Hollywood Hills home.
Lanez faced multiple charges, including negligent discharge of a gun, assault with a gun, and carrying a loaded and unregistered firearm. Megan, despite criticism from Lanez’s fanbase, maintained her strength and addressed her supporters during a performance at the Outside Lands Festival in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park on August 14th. She defiantly declared, “None of the s – – t you was doing or saying broke me.”
Lanez’s Refusal to Back Down
In an August 10th Instagram statement, Lanez made it clear that he refused to apologize for charges he believes he was wrongfully convicted of. He emphasized, “I have never let a hard time intimidate me. I will never let no jail time eliminate me.” Lanez reiterated his innocence, stating, “Regardless of how they try to spin my words, I have always maintained my innocence and I always will.”
Megan, on the other hand, seems to have moved forward with her life after Lanez’s sentencing. She made a bold appearance in a barely-there catsuit during a night out and performed alongside Cardi B at the 2023 MTV VMAs on September 12th.
Lanez’s Transfer to State Prison
Following his ten-year sentence for the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion, Tory Lanez has now been transferred to state prison. A new mugshot was taken on September 19th, as reported by TMZ, when Lanez arrived at North Kern State Prison in Delano, California. Previously, he was incarcerated at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department County Jail after being found guilty of three felony charges in December 2022.
Lanez’s convictions include assault with a semiautomatic firearm, possession of a concealed and loaded firearm in a vehicle, and discharge of a firearm with gross negligence. Despite the conviction, Lanez has consistently maintained his innocence, firmly stating, “I refuse to apologize for something that I did not do.”
Justice for Megan
Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón, at Lanez’s sentencing, emphasized the importance of Megan’s bravery in reporting the crime, saying, “Women, especially Black women, are afraid to report crimes like assault because they are too often not believed.” Megan Pete’s courage in pursuing justice has shone a light on the challenges faced by survivors of violent incidents.
While Lanez’s motion for bail was recently rejected, he faces the beginning of his ten-year sentence at North Kern State Prison in Delano, California. This transfer comes seven months after his conviction in December 2022. Lanez has been convicted of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, discharge of a firearm with gross negligence, carrying a loaded unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and personal use of a firearm resulting in great bodily injury.
Despite these challenges, Lanez’s stoic demeanor in his recent mugshot suggests that he’s not giving up the fight. He continues to appeal his conviction, hoping for a chance to prove his innocence. However, Judge Herriford’s decision to deny bail means Lanez will remain behind bars for now.
In a surprising twist, it was revealed that Lanez got married during his time behind bars. His journey through the criminal justice system has been marked by both controversy and determination, leaving fans and the public curious about what lies ahead for the once-promising artist.
As Tory Lanez begins his ten-year sentence, the world watches to see how his story unfolds. While his music may have taken a backseat to his legal battles, the Canadian rapper’s journey through the justice system continues to captivate our attention.
