Blackpink’s Jennie And Jisoo To Establish Their Agency: “Nothing Has Been Confirmed” Says YG Entertainment

1 years ago By Movies Desk

Reports about the future of K-pop sensation BLACKPINK have been swirling, particularly in regard to the status of two of its members, Jisoo and Jennie, as their contracts with YG Entertainment came to an end last month. Amidst the speculations, YG Entertainment has broken its silence and issued a statement regarding the situation. According to a report from Soompi, the agency has stated that “Nothing has been confirmed regarding BLACKPINK’s contract renewals and their future activities.”

In a report by News1 on September 25, it was suggested that Jennie and Jisoo have decided not to renew their contracts with YG Entertainment. The report also indicated that the two singers have established their own individual agencies, potentially signaling their desire to pursue their careers independently. Furthermore, it was mentioned that discussions are underway regarding their group activities with the agency, while their solo endeavors will be managed by their respective agencies.

The situation has also drawn attention from industry insiders, who have reported that fellow BLACKPINK members, Rose and Lisa, are expected to renew their contracts with YG Entertainment. If the reports of Jisoo and Jennie’s departure from the agency are indeed accurate, this development could have a significant impact on YG Entertainment, as it has seen a notable 30% decrease in its stock value in the past week.

BLACKPINK, originally formed by YG Entertainment, has achieved global acclaim and is often hailed as the “biggest girl group in the world.” They have played a pivotal role in spreading the Korean Wave internationally and are celebrated for their contributions to the “girl crush” concept. Their music has resonated with themes of self-confidence and female empowerment. The group made its debut in August 2016 with the single album Square One, featuring chart-toppers like “Whistle” and “Boombayah,” and later gained recognition by entering the Billboard Canadian Hot 100 with their song “Playing with Fire” from the Square Two single album in November of the same year.
